The APA-5 has been under development since 2009 through the Office of Naval Research's Tech Solutions Program and Atlas Devices and represents the absolute state of the art in powered ascent technology. With radically improved specs over the previous state of the art Atlas Powered Ascender, the "Lightweight Powered Ascender" combines never-before-seen lifting performance with interchangeable batteries and depth-rated operability, the setting the standard for rapid vertical access for the U.S. DoD.
