Innovation for lifesaving applications

Team ATLAS was formed in the fall of 2004 to address a challenge presented by the US Army in the Soldier Design Competition, hosted by the Institue of Soldier Nanotechnologies (ISN) at MIT. Challenged to create a powered rope ascender suitable for use by the Army, Team ATLAS built the first working prototype of the ATLAS Ascender, and won the competition's SAIC award for the device's truly impressive capabilities.

Shortly thereafter, Atlas Devices, LLC was formed in order to focus on the advanced devlopment and commercialization of the ATLAS Ascender, to provide its benefit to the military, law enforcement, and rescue workers as quickly and effectively as possible. Starting with the ATLAS Ascender and going far beyond, we are dedicated to our purpose: to develop creative technologies that benefit and enhance human capabilities in extreme situations.
